Jessica & Rob’s Whitnall Park engagement

Not just anyone can say they got engaged in a magical city like Rome, but that’s exactly where Jessica and Rob chose to spend the rest of their lives together.

“There’s a tradition in Rome that when you visit the Trevi, you are supposed to face away from the fountain, make a wish and throw a coin over your shoulder in order to grant you a safe return to Rome,” Jessica said. “Rob suggested that I turn around and throw the coin, adding that I need to close my eyes while making my wish to ensure it would come true. After a little persuasion, I did. Before I could open my eyes, I started to hear everyone around me cheering and clapping. When I opened my eyes, I realized that the crowd was pointing at us. I looked over at Rob, who was down on one knee.”

The rest was history. The couple is planning a September 2015 wedding at the Milwaukee Art Museum, with a simplistic black, white and gold color palette.

“The Milwaukee Art Museum doesn’t need very much to make it look great,” Jessica said. “So we really want to keep the architecture as a focal point.”

Their engagement photos were taken at Whitnall Park in Hales Corners.

“We like to think of ourselves as an eclectic couple,” Rob said. “We felt taking our engagement photos at Whitnall Park offered us the opportunity to represent that eclectic balance, as our wedding day will take place downtown.”
