Some couples meet in bars, at work or online, but not Kelly and Tim. They met at Storm the Bastille! After a few months of emails and phone calls, Tim took Kelly sailing on Lake Michigan. “It’s been fun and adventure ever since!” they say.
Their church happens to be blocks from where the couple first said hello, but that’s not the only sweet detail of the day. Many personal moments stand out, Kelly says, including getting ready with her mom and matron of honor, walking down the aisle with her dad, and having standing room only at the ceremony because so many loved ones came to see her marry Tim.
When Kelly and Tim got engaged, they gave themselves almost 18 months to put the wedding together; nailing down their reception venue was one of the easier choices. Fire Ridge Golf Club is in the family—her dad’s one of the owners. “Tim and I love golfing with our friends,” Kelly says, “and we enjoy sitting on the deck watching the sunset, or the ‘fire on the ridge.’”
This Grafton pair used their space to the fullest. “The reception was spread out to keep the flow of the night moving,” says Kelly of their classy, whimsical celebration. From dinner on the putting green and desserts in the clubhouse to the scotch and cigar bar and a night full of dancing, she and Tim planned something for everyone.
“Our favorite detail of the wedding was the first dance,” agrees the couple, who started dancing before dinner to get the party going. Kelly majored in dance and Tim took a few dance classes in college, too. Before the wedding, they took more classes to brush up. “It was well worth it,” says Kelly. And so was everything else they did that day: “We believe the day turned out perfect.”
