Although Jen had a slight hunch that her hubby-to-be, Matt, was going to soon pop the question, their proposal story is still as romantic as they come. Matt had planned a weekend getaway at Jen’s parent’s lake house in northern Wisconsin. While he tried to keep it a surprise, Jen caught him texting her dad that week – which she pretended not to see. Matt later proposed, fireside – get this, after a storm knocked out their power. Told you it was perfect.
The couple chose to have their engagement photos taken around the eastside of Milwaukee, where most of their relationship took place. They had a childhood friend and her husband as their photographers, which helped them feel comfortable.
Jen reminds planning brides-to-be, “Find a venue that is beautiful on its own without needing too much work on your part. You think you’ll have time to do a lot of the small stuff yourself, but at the end of the day, you want your friends and family enjoying the day with you and not running around trying to set up for your wedding.”
Jen and Matt’s wedding took place August 25, 2012 with a “Love Birds” theme. Check back later this week for photos from their beautiful wedding day. In the meantime, enjoy their love-filled engagement session.
