As long as we’ve done a “best of bars” readers’ poll, you’ve picked the Lakefront Palm Garden as your favorite brew pub and microbrewery.
We don’t blame you; we love their beer, their building, their fish fry and their polka just as much as you do. Second-place Milwaukee Ale House garnered 19 percent of the votes, but really, it wasn’t even close.
If you want to grab a beer right where it was brewed Milwaukee has you covered. With at least a dozen brew pubs or micro breweries in town, it’s easy to find a nice cold beer that never left the building.
And where else are you gonna find a gluten-free beer made on site by “Larry, Curly and Moe?” (Well, now on display in front of the building.)
Says Esquire magazine: “Delicious, hometown beer on the cheap, fried fish, and big, fat, polka notes plopping out of big, fat brass horns. Welcome to Milwaukee, home of American beer (and, for many years, the world’s number one brew-producing city).”
With the city’s most lively brewery tour, a tasty Friday fish fry, and a prime location along the Milwaukee river it’s no surprise the Lakefront Palm Garden, 1872 N. Commerce St., rose to the top like a frothy head. Yes, we still miss their old and tiny Riverwest location, but hey, progress is progress. Keep up the fine works, Russ and Jim Klisch!
Whether it’s getting a sneak peak at one of their seasonal beers before they become available elsewhere or soaking in some sun on the riverside patio Lakefront delivers a drinking experience worthy of their delicious craft beers.
