Give a girl a ring and they’re happy. Give a girl a ring, tied around her adorable dog’s neck and she’s ecstatic. That’s exactly what happened when Megan came home from work to find a ring box tied around the neck of her dog, Jax, and her now-husband, Matt, dressed to a tee.

“All I remember from there is Matt getting down on his knee and having trouble getting the box off of Jax’s neck,” Megan says. “Or course I said yes and was crying. It was perfect.”

Moments later, a car and driver picked up the couple and took them to Megan’s favorite Milwaukee restaurant, La Merenda, for a dinner reservation Matt had previously set up. After dinner, they enjoyed dessert and drinks at the Iron Horse Hotel.

Megan and Matt enjoy being outside and staying active. They joke that Jax is like their child; which is why they brought him along for their engagement session in Lake Park before the Third Ward. The couple married in April 2012 (coming to the blog, next!).

“My advice to anyone planning a wedding is to just be yourself,” Megan says. “Incorporate things you like to do together on a regular basis. Also, you don’t need to follow the wedding rule book. If it’s not your style, don’t do it.”
