Slip on some comfy shoes and join local wedding pros for a different kind of wedding event: the Whitefish Bay Bridal Walk. From 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, meet and greet photographers, florists, caterers, registry experts and more while you’re strolling down Silver Spring Drive. We talked with a sampling of folks on the roster to help you get an insider view of the evening.
“I think the entire night is going to be awesome!” says Ana Docta, president and cook at Milwaukee’s Kasana, which specializes in local food with international flair. Like the event’s other vendors, she truly enjoys working on weddings. “If we make you even happier on that day than you already are, and contribute to the blessings of the day, that’s a wonderful feeling,” Docta says.
“Meeting couples in their planning stages in person is a great experience,” explains Boutique Photographer Linda Gumieny of Whitefish Bay, many of whose images will be on exhibit at the Stone Creek Coffee Roasters street café during the Bridal Walk. “I can share my enthusiasm for photography, and couples have an opportunity to express what they are excited about for their wedding.”
North Shore florist Vicki Kunz, principal designer at La Tulipe, will be showcasing some of her work alongside Gumieny’s. “We’re looking forward to all of the great energy that is part of the early stages of wedding planning,” says Kunz. “The brides’ level of excitement is contagious, and we love answering their questions and offering ideas.”
In addition to speaking with vendors, you’ll be able to see the chicest new wedding attire being displayed in shop windows, courtesy of Miss Ruby Boutique in Milwaukee. We also hear there’ll be giveaways! And bring your appetite—many culinary vendors, including Stone Creek Coffee Roasters and Kasana, plan to pass out goodies. Docta will be serving appetizers and finger foods: “We will have some hot and some cold dishes to sample, a few specialty desserts, and…a surprise!”
Even if you’re not planning a wedding, these vendors assure, there will be plenty to see and do at the Whitefish Bay Bridal Walk. “Hit the street, say hello, and sample a tuxedo mocha,” recommends Gumieny. Sounds like a plan. Have you marked your calendar yet?
